Dont let the restaurant + hotel put you off. We really enjoyed the food, produce outstanding. Nice ambience. Sizzling pepper beef was highlight.

Enjoyed the soups previously but there seems to be a change. I'll report back of the quality stays the same
6pm on a Tuesday. October school hols. 2 parties had booked and at 6.15 we were lucky to get a table. Ordered Dim Sims with chilli paste, honey chicken, combination with oyster sauce, rice and fish cocktails and chips for the little one. Brought our own wine. Cost $59. Corkage $5 per bottle. Food tasted great. Nice atmosphere on outdoor terrace. Highly recommended. I like their marketing. They have $10 lunch specials to get you in and the food is good so you know if you go for dinner it will be more expensive but tasty and we'll prepared. Service efficient.
This is an odd little place, it looks more like a cafe in a corporate park than a Chinese restaurant. In fairness to the owners it is located in the lobby of a Nelson Bay motel so there is no point pretending it is in Shanghai. No cliche lanterns or fortune cookies here. The food and service however were exceptional. Lovely, attentive and kind staff who were awesome. Food was excellent, fresh, tasty and promptly served way beyond expectation. We ate spring rolls, honey king prawns, pork in plum sauce and fried rice. Every dish was delicious, not greasy, fresh and authentic. Great place, would definitely go back.
